Murillo, the talented Nottingham Forest defender, has responded to transfer rumors linking him to Chelsea, amid reports suggesting the Brazilian could be valued at over £70 million.
Chelsea’s interest in Murillo follows his impressive debut season at Forest, where he played 36 games, including 32 Premier League matches, without making a single error leading to a goal. His standout performances have not only attracted Chelsea but also other top European clubs.
The Blues, having already signed Tosin Adarabioyo, are looking to strengthen their defense further due to the potential departure of Trevoh Chalobah and the confirmed exit of Thiago Silva. Chelsea’s initial approach to Forest, however, faced a stumbling block due to the hefty price tag.
There are speculations that Chelsea might propose a cash-plus-player deal, potentially including Chalobah to lower the overall cost.
Murillo, while addressing these rumors, expressed his admiration for Thiago Silva and acknowledged the responsibility that would come with replacing such a seasoned player.
“We don’t know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not, but I’m relaxed,” Murillo stated on the podcast Benja Me Mucho.
He further mentioned his openness to joining other Premier League giants, like Manchester City or Arsenal, but recognized the competition for a starting position in those squads. Murillo also hinted at interest from Liverpool, suggesting that he is keen on showcasing his talents at a major club.
In addition to Chelsea, clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona have shown interest in the 21-year-old.
Atletico Madrid has reportedly had discussions with his representatives, while Juventus has ruled out a bid due to limitations on non-EU players in their squad.
Murillo’s future remains uncertain as the transfer window progresses, with various top clubs vying for his signature. Chelsea, eager to bolster their defensive line-up, might need to negotiate strategically to secure the young defender’s transfer.
