Rafael Nadal’s Olympic dreams, and possibly his professional tennis career, may have come to an end following his and Carlos Alcaraz’s exit from the men’s doubles at the Paris Olympics.

The Spanish duo were defeated 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals by Americans Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram on the iconic Court Philippe Chatrier, where Nadal has claimed 14 French Open titles.

Despite a spirited effort, the match slipped away when Alcaraz’s serve was broken in the second set, sparking a brief dispute over the call that went against the Spaniards.

The American pair, with strong doubles resumes and guidance from legendary coaches Bob and Mike Bryan, proved too formidable.

Nadal, at 38, has not confirmed his future plans, but considering his age and recent injuries, a return at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics seems improbable. As he waved to the crowd after the match, it felt like a poignant farewell to the venue where he has experienced so much success.
