Top-ranked golfer Nelly Korda is making her return to the LPGA Tour this week at the Amundi Evian Championship in France.

This will be her first appearance on the Tour since missing the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last month.

Korda’s absence was due to an unfortunate incident where she was bitten by a dog at a coffee shop in Seattle, just a day after the PGA Championship. The injury led her to withdraw from the Aramco Team Series in London.

While Korda has not shared many details about the dog bite, fellow golfer Alison Lee offered some insights. Lee, who also experienced a severe dog bite earlier this year, expressed empathy and support for Korda. Lee’s incident involved her boyfriend’s rescue dog, resulting in a hospital stay and a diagnosis of lymphangitis due to a severe infection. Fortunately, Korda’s injury appears to have been less severe.

Korda’s return is highly anticipated, given her impressive season so far. She has secured six wins on the LPGA Tour this year, including a remarkable streak of five consecutive victories, a feat achieved by only two other golfers in the Tour’s history.
