Nelly Korda, a prominent golfer, announced her withdrawal from an upcoming Ladies European Tour event in London due to a dog bite injury.
On June 28, Korda, 25, shared the news via Instagram Stories, explaining that she was bitten by a dog in Seattle and needs time to recover fully before returning to competition.
Korda expressed her regret, apologizing to the Ladies European Tour, sponsors, and her fans for her absence. She remains hopeful for a quick recovery, stating:
“Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon.”
Recently, Korda competed in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Washington, but missed the cut for the third consecutive event. Despite these setbacks, Korda has had an impressive season, securing six victories in seven tournaments from March to mid-May.
She is set to represent Team USA in the women’s golf competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics, which begins on August 7 at Le Golf National in Paris. Reflecting on her Olympic journey, Korda previously shared:
“Winning the gold medal in Tokyo was a dream come true and an incredible highlight of my career.”
Korda’s passion for golf was evident from an early age, often seen on the course with her sister, Jessica.
The sisters maintain a strong bond, supporting each other through the challenges of professional sports. Jessica once remarked, “When we don’t do well, we’re there for each other.”
As fans await her return, Korda’s focus remains on recovery and preparing for the upcoming Olympic games, where she aims to repeat her gold medal success.
