Senegalese center-back Moussa Niakhaté is on the brink of a €31 million move from Nottingham Forest to Lyon, as reported by Le Parisien.
The 28-year-old has completed his medical with the Ligue 1 side and is set to sign a four-year contract soon. Nottingham Forest and Lyon are finalizing the necessary paperwork to complete the transfer.
Niakhaté’s departure is crucial for Nottingham Forest, as the club needs to finalize sales by June 30 to avoid penalties related to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations. Last season, Forest faced a four-point deduction, highlighting the importance of this transfer.

The deal was orchestrated with the involvement of Evangelos Marinakis and John Textor, who are key figures in multi-club ownership structures. In addition to the Niakhaté transfer, Nottingham Forest is also expecting a €17.5 million payment from Lyon for Belgium international Orel Mangala’s move to France.
This transfer marks a significant step in Niakhaté’s career, as he transitions from the Premier League to the French top tier, where he will contribute to Lyon’s defensive line in the upcoming season.
