Nicolas Jackson notched his 11th goal across all competitions this season with a header against Brentford, reflecting on his development since joining Stamford Bridge.
In his debut English football season, the Senegalese striker has aided the Blues in reaching the Carabao Cup final and delivered standout performances, such as netting a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur this season.
The summer recruit from Villarreal has showcased versatility under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, playing on the flanks or centrally, enabling players like Cole Palmer to advance into spaces upfront.
Jackson’s review of his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
The 22 year old forward in an honest assertion of himself, feels he has not done enough despite scoring 11 goals for Chelsea so far this season.
’It’s not enough because I have missed a lot,’ Jackson reflected.
‘For me, I should have a lot more, but every game I try to make the team win and help my team-mates. My team-mates have helped me as well so every game, even if I don’t score, I want to win.
‘I have missed a lot of chances. I should have more than 11 goals, but for me, it is just the beginning and I’m just starting to feel pleased in England. I keep moving forward.’
Jackson also acknowledged that the squad are developing together as the Blues hope to end the season on a high, with the club still in the FA Cup and battling in the Premier League.
‘We always fight until the end,’ he added.
‘It’s coming slowly because we are a young team and there is a lack of experience in the goals we have conceded.
‘We are just trying to be one family, one group and trying to fight for each other. Game by game we are seeing results, so I think we will achieve something this year.’
