American sprinter Noah Lyles has responded sharply to claims made by Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who asserted that he could outpace the Olympian in a race.

Hill, known for his lightning speed on the football field, confidently stated in an interview that he would “beat Noah Lyles,” even suggesting he would don a COVID mask after winning to send a message.

Lyles, however, was unimpressed by Hill’s bravado. Mockingly, Lyles pretended to forget Hill’s name during a recent interview, sarcastically referring to him as “the cheetah guy from football.” He even sought help from a friend off-camera to remember Hill’s name, highlighting his lack of concern over the challenge.

This isn’t the first time Lyles has courted controversy with his comments. After the 2023 World Athletics Championships, he famously questioned why NBA players refer to themselves as “world champions,” a remark that didn’t sit well with many in the sports community, including Hill.

The NFL star dismissed Lyles’ opinions, taking a jab at the sprinter’s performance in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where Lyles finished third in the 200m after battling COVID-19.

Hill’s confidence is backed by his past sprinting accolades, including a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2012 Junior World Championships and impressive personal bests. However, Lyles, a six-time World Champion, boasts superior times in both the 100m and 200m, making the outcome of any potential race between them far from certain.

The rivalry between these two athletes continues to heat up, with fans eagerly watching to see if this challenge will ever materialize.
