Nottingham Forest has entered the fray alongside Inter Milan in the pursuit of Udinese’s talented defender Jaka Bijol.
Bijol’s stellar performances for Slovenia at EURO 2024 have caught the attention of several European clubs. His strong defensive display, particularly in the group stage match against England that ended in a 0-0 draw, helped Slovenia advance to the Round of 16, where they were narrowly defeated by Portugal on penalties.
The 25-year-old center-back, who joined Udinese from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2022 for a fee of €4 million, is now being courted by clubs across Italy, Germany, and England.
In addition to Inter Milan, German clubs Wolfsburg and Stuttgart, as well as Premier League’s Nottingham Forest, have shown a keen interest in acquiring his services. Bologna, Napoli, and Lazio have also been linked with the player in the past, but the current asking price for Bijol stands at a minimum of €10-15 million.
This valuation is influenced by his contract, which extends until June 2027, and Udinese’s obligation to pay CSKA Moscow a 10 percent cut of any future sell-on fee.
Bijol’s impressive performance at the international level has significantly boosted his market value and sparked a potential bidding war among top European clubs.
With his contract security at Udinese, the Italian club stands to make a substantial profit should they decide to sell the promising defender this summer.
