Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos Miguel is on the verge of finalizing his transfer to Nottingham Forest.
After weeks of speculation, the deal is nearing completion, with Miguel set to undergo his medical examination this weekend. The move, valued at £3.4 million, will see Miguel join Forest from Corinthians, with the 6-foot-8 keeper expected to sign a five-year contract on Monday.
Carlos Miguel’s arrival will mark Nottingham Forest’s fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window. The club has already secured the signings of Eric da Silva Moreira, Elliot Anderson, and Marko Stamenic, although Stamenic will spend the season on loan at Olympiacos.
The goalkeeping department at Nottingham Forest has seen significant changes over the past year, with Odysseas Vlachodimos departing for Newcastle after just one season.
Matt Turner is also expected to leave the club, prompting the need for fresh talent in the position. Miguel’s addition is anticipated to create healthy competition for Matz Sels, who established himself as the first choice last season.
Murillo, a former teammate of Miguel at Corinthians and now a defender at Forest, revealed that he had recommended Miguel to the club last year.
“I heard Nottingham were interested, and I spoke highly of him to the people at Nottingham,” Murillo said. “We had a goalkeeper problem, and I recommended him at the end of last year.”
With Wayne Hennessey having been released, there is a possibility that Nottingham Forest might bring in another goalkeeper to ensure ample options for the upcoming season.
The transfer will see Miguel reunite with Murillo, strengthening the team’s defensive and goalkeeping lineup. As Nottingham Forest continues to bolster its squad, fans eagerly await the official announcement of Miguel’s signing, hoping it will add the necessary depth and competition to the team’s roster.
This move signifies Nottingham Forest’s proactive approach in the transfer market, aiming to build a robust squad capable of tackling the challenges of the upcoming season.
