There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce have stepped up their pursuit to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
The Turkish side has prioritized signing a central midfielder this summer and has been linked with several targets in recent weeks.
Aspor reports that Fenerbahce’s aim to sign a central midfielder came after Jose Mourinho instructed the club’s hierarchy to strengthen this department during the current transfer window. It’s reported that the Yellow Canaries have come in with an offer for the Nottingham Forest player which could eventually total €20m.
There’s no indication on whether the Premier League side has agreed to the offer, but they would be taking a significant hit on the Ivorian if they were to accept the bid. Sangare cost Forest £30m when he arrived from PSV last summer.
Only yesterday, reports from Turkey indicated that Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, was traveling to England this week to hold transfer talks with the Ivory Coast international.
Branco was also said to be looking to have negotiations with Nottingham Forest regarding the potential transfer.
