Holmgren’s remark, “I like Miami, because it’s just like empty… As the away team you just got to build that lead in the first three quarters and then it just stays quiet for the fourth,” was widely interpreted as a dig at the Heat’s fanbase.
Holmgren clarified his statement, saying it was taken out of context and intended as a compliment.
He explained that his comments referred to fans returning to their seats in the fourth quarter after visiting lounges, creating a great atmosphere for close games.
