Michael Olise has officially joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in a deal valued at £50 million, including £5 million in add-ons.

The 22-year-old French winger has committed to a five-year contract with the German club, extending his stay until June 2029. This move comes despite strong interest from Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United.

Bayern Munich, under the new leadership of former Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, secured Olise to strengthen their squad after a disappointing season where they finished third in the Bundesliga, trailing behind Stuttgart and champions Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bavarian club also signed England captain Harry Kane last summer, yet they failed to capture any trophies.

Olise expressed his excitement about joining Bayern Munich, emphasizing his ambition to win titles with his new team.

“The discussions with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m thrilled to be part of such a prestigious club,” Olise said. “It’s a significant challenge, and I’m eager to prove myself and contribute to winning numerous titles in the coming years.”

Olise had an impressive spell at Crystal Palace, registering 16 goal contributions in 19 games during a season disrupted by injury. He made his first appearance in November but still managed to accumulate 16 goals and 25 assists in 90 matches for the Eagles since joining from Reading in July 2021. Reading will benefit from a sell-on fee due to this transfer.

Steve Parish, the chairman of Crystal Palace, lauded Olise’s development and achievements at the club. “We are immensely proud of what Michael has accomplished here,” Parish stated.

“We understand his desire to compete at the highest level of world football, and we wish him all the best in his new journey with Bayern Munich.”

Olise is set to represent France’s Under-23 team at the Paris Olympics this summer, further highlighting his rising profile in international football. His move to Bayern Munich marks a significant step in his career as he aims to secure silverware and establish himself on a larger stage.
