Tiger Woods Leaves Scotland after missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.

The 15-time major winner finished the first two rounds at 14-over par, resulting in his early exit from the tournament. Following this disappointment, Woods informed reporters on Friday that he plans to catch a flight to Detroit to join his son, Charlie, for this week’s U.S. Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills.

Woods is not expected to play competitively again until December’s Hero World Challenge. Despite his current form, it’s likely that fans will still get to see nearly every shot he takes, regardless of his performance level.

This extensive coverage sparked a discussion on “The Dan Patrick Show.” Dan Patrick questioned if any other sport would continue to feature an athlete who has been struggling as much as Woods has in recent years.

“Now we watch him and every shot is on TV,” Patrick remarked. “Can you think of any other sport where someone struggling is given this much attention?”

Patrick argued that this level of coverage might be unfair to both Woods and other golfers.

“It’s not fair to the other golfers, and it might not be fair to Tiger as well,” he continued. “I wish that they sort of checked in with him periodically… his play doesn’t warrant the coverage.”

At 48, Woods plans to take some time away from competitive golf before returning in December for The Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship.

Regardless of his recent performances, Woods remains one of the biggest draws in golf, and his presence at any tournament continues to captivate audiences and media alike.
