Paul Merson, known for his Premier League predictions, has offered an intriguing take on the upcoming Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea match.

Nottingham Forest, led by Nuno Espirito Santo, has enjoyed a solid start to the season, remaining unbeaten in their first five games. Despite their recent disappointing performance, Forest are gearing up for a challenging visit to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, with star player Cole Palmer coming off a stunning four-goal performance against Brighton.

In his prediction for the match, Merson anticipates an action-packed encounter, with plenty of goals. Writing for Sportskeeda, he predicts a 4-2 victory for Chelsea. Merson commented:

“I expect a really entertaining game. Make no mistake, this is a difficult and dangerous game for Chelsea. Nottingham Forest are always a threat on the counter attack, they’ve already won at Anfield.”

While Merson believes Chelsea will struggle defensively, he also sees Forest finding opportunities to score.

“Chelsea don’t look very comfortable at the back. If you press them, chances will open up for you. But if Forest do press high up the pitch, that leaves them thin at the back.”

Merson concludes:

“I just can’t see Chelsea not scoring goals, but also I can’t see Forest not scoring against the Blues’ defence either. That’s why I think there’ll be plenty of goals in this game.”

Forest will be boosted by the return of Morgan Gibbs-White, who missed their loss to Fulham due to suspension.

His creative presence is expected to help Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood lead Forest’s attack. With Gibbs-White back, it promises to be a thrilling showdown between two of England’s prominent No. 10s at Stamford Bridge.
