The Pittsburgh Steelers may face a setback in their offensive plans as running back Jaylen Warren left Saturday night’s preseason game in the second quarter due to a hamstring injury.

Initially listed as doubtful to return, Warren’s exit raises concerns about his availability for the coming weeks. The extent of his absence will largely depend on the severity of the muscle strain, as hamstring injuries typically require significant rest to avoid re-aggravation.

Warren, who went undrafted in 2022, had a breakout season in 2023, rushing for 784 yards and averaging an impressive 5.3 yards per carry.

Known for his burst of speed and acceleration, Warren is seen as a vital complement to Najee Harris in the Steelers’ backfield. However, with Warren sidelined, Cordarrelle Patterson, next on the depth chart, might see increased opportunities.

The Steelers could also opt to distribute carries among multiple backs as they assess their options going forward.
