Cam Heyward, a veteran defensive tackle and captain of the Pittsburgh Steelers, reached a major milestone during Sunday’s victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the sixth player in franchise history to appear in 200 games.
Heyward, who recorded five pressures and a sack in the game, continues to solidify his legacy with the team.
Heyward now shares second place on the Steelers’ all-time games played list with Mel Blount, both trailing Donnie Shell, who holds the franchise record with 201 appearances. With just two more games, Heyward will surpass Shell’s mark, setting a new record for the most games by a defensive player in Steelers history.
Spending his entire career with one team, Heyward joins an elite group of only 65 NFL players to have played 200 games with a single franchise. His continued excellence at age 35 makes his recent contract—earning $15 million annually—a remarkable value. The deal set the record for the highest-paying contract awarded to a defensive player over 35, but Heyward’s performance shows no signs of slowing.
As Heyward nears the franchise record, he further cements his place as one of the all-time greats in Steelers history.
