Ian Poulter, a prominent figure in the golfing world, has expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance since joining the LIV Golf League.

Poulter, who was among the first to sign with the controversial Saudi-backed tour in 2022, secured a $22 million deal. Despite this lucrative contract, his results have not met his expectations.

Poulter’s transition to LIV Golf came with significant risks, including jeopardizing his future in the Ryder Cup and facing legal battles with the DP World Tour. His performance since joining the league has been underwhelming, with no top-10 finishes in 2022 and only modest improvements since then.

His best finish last year was 11th at Centurion Club, and this year, his highest placement was 10th at LIV Golf Hong Kong. Other recent results have seen him placed 29th, 52nd, 35th, 46th, 25th, and 27th.

Ahead of the LIV Golf United Kingdom event at JCB Golf & Country Club, Poulter acknowledged his struggles, stating:

“I’m not happy with my play over the last couple of seasons. I think I’m very close.”

He emphasized the importance of having the right mindset and attitude to improve his performance, especially as he aims for another victory, his last being the 2018 Houston Open on the PGA Tour.

Poulter, along with his Majesticks teammates Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson, has ambitious plans for the future, including owning their own golf course. However, he admitted that financial success on the course is crucial to realizing these goals.

“If we deliver on the golf course and win five tournaments next year, we can push this forward a bit quicker,” he said.

Poulter remains hopeful that with improved results, the Majesticks GC franchise can secure a home venue, highlighting the need for a location and funding.

Westwood shared this optimism, noting the “infinite possibilities” for their team. Despite the current frustrations, Poulter and his team are determined to think big and aim high for the future.
