Emma Raducanu, despite her first-round defeat at the US Open, has managed to significantly boost her financial standing.

The 21-year-old British tennis star was eliminated by Sofia Kenin, a former Australian Open champion, with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. This loss marks Raducanu’s continued struggle on the court, extending her winless streak to three years since her stunning victory at the 2021 US Open.

However, Raducanu’s fortunes off the court tell a different story. Despite her recent performance, she earned a six-figure sum for participating in the tournament, adding $100,000 (£76,000) to her already impressive net worth, which is estimated at around £10 million. The majority of her wealth comes from lucrative endorsement deals with brands like British Airways, Dior, Nike, and Porsche, among others.

Yet, there are concerns about the future of these endorsements. With her world ranking now at No. 72 and several contracts nearing renewal, the continuation and value of these deals may be at risk. Following her defeat, Raducanu expressed regret over her lack of hard-court preparation, hinting that it was not her decision to train exclusively in London before the tournament.

This recent setback has left her questioning her training decisions and feeling disheartened about her current form.
