The Las Vegas Raiders concluded their fourth week of the 2024 NFL Training Camp with a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in their second preseason game at Allegiant Stadium.
Head Coach Antonio Pierce emphasized the significance of the game, particularly concerning the ongoing quarterback competition between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew.
Pierce highlighted the need to finalize a decision soon, ideally after this game, as the team must prepare for the regular season. He mentioned that both quarterbacks would continue to see action as evaluations continue.
Davante Adams did not play, opting to sit out the preseason, with Pierce confirming that all healthy players were expected to participate. Adams had suffered a minor injury earlier in the week, which contributed to his absence from the game.
In terms of performance, Gardner Minshew completed 10 of 21 passes for 95 yards and zero interception, finishing with a quarterback rating of 61%.
Aidan O’Connell, on the other hand, completed 14 of 20 passes for 96 yards, recording one touchdown and one interception, resulting in a quarterback rating of 76%.
Coach Antonio Pierce had said he planned to make a decision after this game. He said after the game, he hopes to make the decision in the next couple of days. Neither quarterback did many favors for themselves in the final audition, though.
Now, Pierce has a decision to make and it will come after a disappointing overall night for his two competitors
