The Las Vegas Raiders are making adjustments to their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Following the recent retirement of wide receiver Michael Gallup, the Raiders have signed Terrell Bynum, a former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver, on July 29.

Bynum, who was an undrafted free agent in 2023, didn’t see game action in his rookie year, making his potential with the Raiders uncertain. Despite limited experience, Bynum’s familiarity with Raiders’ general manager Tom Telesco, who signed him during his tenure with the Chargers, could improve his chances of securing a spot, though he may primarily be a practice squad candidate. His college career at Washington and USC saw him accumulate over 1,000 receiving yards, indicating some potential upside.

To create space for Bynum, the Raiders waived linebacker Darien Butler, who failed a physical. Butler, who joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022, had a promising rookie season, playing in 15 games. However, an injury last season sidelined him, and his failed physical raises concerns about his recovery and future in the NFL. The Raiders did not provide specifics on his condition, leaving his return to the league uncertain.

As the Raiders continue their training camp, the defense appears strong, but the offense is struggling to find consistency. The team is navigating a quarterback competition between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, while also adapting to a new offensive system under coordinator Luke Getsy.

Getsy remains optimistic, noting that while the offense faces challenges, the players are beginning to take calculated risks that could eventually pay off. The success of the Raiders’ season will likely hinge on the performance of their quarterbacks, who must step up if the team hopes to generate enough offense to win games.
