Despite the disappointment, rookie tight end Brock Bowers made NFL history with a record-breaking performance.
The Raiders struggled defensively, unable to stop Miami’s potent offense. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a stellar outing, amassing 288 passing yards and three touchdowns while spreading the ball among multiple receivers. He recorded 13 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown, setting a new NFL record for the most receptions by a rookie tight end in a single game, surpassing previous marks. Bowers was targeted 16 times by quarterback Gardner Minshew and capitalized on those opportunities, proving why he was hailed as a generational talent out of Georgia.
Miami’s defense focused on restricting big plays downfield, which opened opportunities for Bowers in short and intermediate zones. His ability to gain yards after the catch further highlighted his versatility and potential as an elite offensive weapon.
