Rangers FC is in pursuit of Rapid Bucharest’s star striker, Albion Rrahmani, but any offer below £5 million will be insufficient, according to Rapid Bucharest President Viorel Moldovan.
Despite receiving a £3.5 million bid, reportedly from Slavia Prague, Rapid Bucharest is holding out for a higher fee for the prolific 23-year-old forward.
Rrahmani, who won the Golden Boot with Ballkani in 2023 before transferring to Rapid Bucharest and scoring 19 goals in 30 matches, is seen as a key target for Rangers as they aim to strengthen their attacking lineup.
Rangers’ current striking options have been inconsistent, with Cyriel Dessers often falling short and injuries sidelining Danilo for much of last season. Additionally, Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva have returned to their parent clubs following the end of their loan spells.
With Rangers still in talks with Rrahmani’s representatives, the competition for his signature is heating up. Slavia Prague’s bid underscores the interest in Rrahmani’s talents, but Rangers remain in contention, despite also nearing a deal for Hamza Igamane from RAF Rabat for approximately £1.7 million.
Rrahmani’s commitment to Rapid Bucharest remains steadfast for now, as he prepares for the upcoming season under the guidance of former Celtic manager Neil Lennon. Rrahmani emphasized his professionalism and focus on his current club, expressing optimism for Rapid’s success in the next season.
As Rangers continue their efforts to bridge the gap with their Old Firm rivals Celtic, the potential addition of Rrahmani could prove pivotal.
The transfer window developments indicate that Rangers might be planning for a dual acquisition strategy, targeting both Rrahmani and Igamane to bolster their squad depth and enhance their attacking threat.
