Manager Philippe Clement and sporting director Nils Koppen are focusing not just on strengthening the squad, but also on offloading players who don’t fit into Clement’s plans.

Clement has faced challenges with Cantwell, citing issues with performance and behavior both on and off the pitch. The final straw might have been an incident after the Scottish Cup final.

Clement expressed frustration with Cantwell’s inconsistency, saying after a game against Dundee:

“I was very happy with his second half… That is the Todd I want to see every time. It needs to be fire, desire, every time with and without the ball.”

Former Liverpool defender and now football agent, José Enrique, has inadvertently highlighted Cantwell’s situation. Enrique offered Cantwell to Lecce coach Luca Gotti but mistakenly sent the message to a fans page on Instagram. This blunder brought to light Rangers’ efforts to move Cantwell, along with another player, to Serie A.

Despite Cantwell not being on the must-sell list like Sam Lammers or Tom Lawrence, his inconsistency has made him a candidate for transfer.

Clement might see an opportunity to bring in someone better suited to his tactical approach, making Cantwell a saleable asset. Purchased for just £1.5 million, selling Cantwell could generate funds for further acquisitions.

Rangers continue their squad overhaul  with focus on aligning the team with Clement’s vision and ensuring all players are committed and consistent in their performances. This strategic reshuffling aims to position Rangers competitively for the upcoming season.
