Rangers FC may receive a significant financial boost due to the potential transfer of former midfielder Glen Kamara, who is reportedly set to leave Leeds United.

Less than a year after his £5 million move to the Yorkshire club, Kamara has attracted interest from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais. The Finnish international, who became a regular starter for Leeds under Daniel Farke with 42 appearances, could be on the move again this summer.

Kamara’s initial transfer to Leeds included potential add-ons and a sell-on clause. However, Rangers missed out on a £500,000 payment when Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League, losing to Southampton in the Championship play-off final. This missed opportunity could be mitigated if Rennes follow through on their interest, providing Rangers with a lucrative sell-on fee.

French sports outlet L’Equipe reports that Rennes are keen to bolster their midfield options, targeting Kamara after a tenth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

Rennes’ manager Julien Stephan is expected to test Leeds’ resolve with an offer, potentially revisiting the £10 million valuation linked to Kamara during his time at Rangers.

The club has already seen notable departures, including Fabian Rieder to Stuttgart and Jeanuel Belocian to Bayer Leverkusen, with Enzo Le Fee possibly heading to Roma for £16.9 million.

Kamara, who cost Rangers a mere £50,000 from Dundee in January 2019, could now generate a substantial return for the Scottish champions if he secures a move to Rennes.

This potential transfer underscores his value and the shrewd business conducted by Rangers in acquiring and developing the talented midfielder.
