AC Milan’s attempt to strengthen their midfield has encountered a setback as their €20 million offer for Johnny Cardoso, a midfielder for Real Betis, was rejected.
The offer fell significantly short of Betis’ €30 million valuation of the 22-year-old player. Milan’s pursuit of Cardoso has gained momentum recently due to the difficulties in securing other targets, with the club emphasizing the need for a more physically imposing, defensive-minded player to bolster their squad.
Cardoso, a New Jersey-born player who holds both American and Italian passports, would not occupy a non-EU slot in Milan’s roster if signed, making him a strategically attractive option.
Despite being born in the United States, Cardoso moved to Brazil at a young age and began his career there, playing for Internacional before joining Betis last season.
In his debut LaLiga season, Cardoso made 17 appearances, contributing one goal and two assists, showcasing his potential as a valuable addition to Milan’s midfield.
