The Boston Red Sox might prioritize signing Teoscar Hernandez this offseason, aiming to bolster their right-handed power.
Hernandez, currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has enjoyed a standout season and is set to become a free agent after the Dodgers’ postseason run. With a projected three-year, $71 million contract on the horizon, Boston appears to be a favorable landing spot for the two-time All-Star.
Hernandez recently discussed his experience at Fenway Park on the “Baseball Isn’t Boring” podcast, sharing his admiration for the ballpark’s energy.
“Everything about that field is good,” he explained. “The fans love the team, and they support it no matter what… It’s going to be fun, and I’ll try to make the best decision for my family.”
Hernandez’s familiarity with the American League, especially from his years with the Toronto Blue Jays, has made him comfortable at Fenway, where he has posted an impressive .950 OPS across 189 plate appearances.
The Red Sox previously pursued Hernandez last winter but lost out to the Dodgers, who offered him a one-year, $23.5 million deal.
Spotrac now projects that Hernandez, coming off a career year with 33 home runs and 99 RBIs, will secure a multi-year contract this time around. If Boston presents a competitive offer, it could finally land the slugger they sought last season, providing a crucial balance to their left-heavy lineup【6】【7】.
