Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Malcolm Koonce will miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season due to a knee injury suffered before Week 1, according to multiple reports.

The Athletic indicated that Koonce is scheduled to undergo surgery next week. The 26-year-old was placed on injured reserve on September 8 after having a productive 2023 season, during which he recorded eight sacks and three forced fumbles.

Koonce was a key defensive contributor for the Raiders, and his absence will be felt as the team looks to improve its performance this year. Since being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Koonce has appeared in 39 games, starting 11 of them.

He has accumulated 55 tackles and 10 sacks over the course of his career. With Koonce set to become an unrestricted free agent in March 2025, the injury adds uncertainty to his future in the NFL.

His recovery timeline following surgery will be closely monitored by both fans and teams alike.
