New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has addressed the recent arrest of safety Jabrill Peppers, offering clarity on the player’s future with the team.
Peppers was arrested last Saturday on multiple charges, including assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and cocaine possession. While Peppers has denied the allegations, his legal team maintains they have evidence to prove his innocence.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club podcast, Kraft acknowledged Peppers’ right to due process but made the team’s stance clear.
“If what was reported is true, he’s gone,” Kraft stated, as reported by TMZ Sports. He emphasized that both the NFL and the Patriots are conducting independent investigations into the matter. “The easiest thing would have been to cut him right away, but we’re trying to measure nine times and do right by him. If the facts are as reported, then he’s not with us.”
For now, Peppers is on the Commissioner Exempt List, making him ineligible to participate while the investigation continues.
Peppers, 29, has been a key figure in the Patriots’ defense and recently signed a three-year, $30 million contract. His status with the team remains uncertain as the legal process unfolds.
