Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that star midfielder Matt O’Riley will not be leaving the club unless a substantial offer is made, reflecting the player’s true value rather than just the league in which he plays.
O’Riley, who was instrumental in Celtic’s successful 2023-24 campaign with 19 goals and 18 assists, has attracted interest from major European clubs, including Serie A’s Atalanta, who have already had three bids—up to £15 million—rejected.
Other clubs, such as Juventus, Roma, and Atletico Madrid, are also reportedly eyeing the 23-year-old Danish international. Despite this growing interest, O’Riley remains focused on his role at Celtic, even captaining the team in a recent 4-0 pre-season victory over DC United.
Rodgers praised O’Riley’s professionalism and emphasized that any club wishing to sign him must meet Celtic’s valuation, which is speculated to exceed their record sale of £25 million.
Celtic has a history of selling players at premium prices, such as Kieran Tierney’s £25 million move to Arsenal and Odsonne Edouard’s £14 million transfer to Crystal Palace. As the transfer window progresses, Rodgers expects more activity to bolster the squad, underlining that no departures will occur unless the right offer comes through.
