Joe Rodon is excited to embark on a new chapter with Leeds United after completing a permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Wales international’s transfer, valued at approximately £10 million, was finalized on Tuesday, marking a significant acquisition for the Whites. Leeds managed to secure Rodon’s services despite interest from Premier League clubs Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Brentford.

Rodon’s return is seen as a silver lining following the departure of young talent Archie Gray. Last season, Rodon was instrumental in Leeds’ defense, making 50 appearances across all competitions and helping the team achieve a third-place finish in the Championship under Daniel Farke’s management.

Partnering effectively with Pascal Struijk early in the season, Rodon had to adjust after Struijk’s injury, forming a solid defensive pairing with Ethan Ampadu. The duo’s efforts were crucial in Leeds’ push for promotion.

Expressing his enthusiasm for rejoining the club, Rodon shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating:

“So happy to be back at this great club! I’ve always felt so at home here and I’m looking forward to a big season!”

The 26-year-old’s return comes amid a reshuffling of Leeds’ squad, with notable departures including Gray, Luke Ayling, Cody Drameh, and Jamie Shackleton. This leaves the club in need of bolstering its defensive options, potentially paving the way for Rodon’s Wales teammate, Connor Roberts, to join from Burnley.

Rodon’s permanent signing boosts Leeds’ defensive stability as they aim for a successful season ahead, hoping to build on the momentum from last year.
