The New Orleans Saints have announced that defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon is one step closer to rejoining their defensive front.
On Tuesday, the team opened Kpassagnon’s 21-day practice window, signaling his potential return after being sidelined on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to a torn Achilles sustained earlier this offseason. If not activated within this timeframe, he will be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Kpassagnon, a 30-year-old veteran, entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Known for his athletic potential, he recorded seven sacks, 18 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss in four seasons with Kansas City, including three sacks during postseason play. His efforts contributed to two AFC Championships and a Super Bowl victory.
Since signing with New Orleans in 2021, Kpassagnon has tallied 9.5 sacks, 23 QB hits, and 10 tackles for loss in 33 games. Despite injuries limiting his availability, he delivered a career-best four sacks in 2021 and remained a consistent rotational piece on the defensive line.
The Saints, struggling with a 4-7 record and ranked 31st in total defense, are hopeful his return will bolster their pass rush and improve their defense heading into a crucial Week 13 matchup against the Rams.
