On October 2, 2024, reports surfaced that star wide receiver Davante Adams has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.
The franchise has reportedly begun reaching out to other teams to explore interest in a potential high-profile deal, just ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline on November 5. Multiple outlets, including ESPN, NFL Network, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal, have confirmed the news.
Adams, 31, has been a key player for the Raiders since joining the team in 2022 following a trade from the Green Bay Packers. In his debut season with Las Vegas, Adams recorded 1,516 receiving yards and led the league with 14 touchdown catches. His performance continued to shine in 2023 with 103 receptions, 1,144 yards, and eight touchdowns. So far in the current season, he has tallied 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown in three games.
Currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, Adams missed the Raiders’ Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns. Despite signing a five-year, $140 million contract extension in 2022, which keeps him under contract through 2026, Adams is now seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
His potential trade this week would result in a $13.5 million salary cap hit for the Raiders, with that number decreasing as the season progresses.
The Raiders, holding a 2-2 record, will next face the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. EDT.
