The Pittsburgh Steelers faced a tough setback on Sunday, suffering their first loss of the season in a close 27-24 defeat against the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite several attempts to overcome a 14-point deficit, the Steelers could not recover fully. However, the loss was only part of the bad news for the team.
Following the game, it was revealed that starting guard James Daniels sustained a significant injury during the matchup. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Daniels tore his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season.
The injury occurred early in the game, during the Steelers’ sixth offensive play. Although initially reported as an ankle injury, Daniels was officially ruled out by halftime.
This injury marks a major blow for the Steelers, as Daniels has been a key figure on their offensive line. In his first two seasons with Pittsburgh, Daniels missed only two games.
His consistent presence helped the Steelers significantly improve their performance in recent seasons. Daniels, who was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2018, signed a three-year, $26.5 million deal with Pittsburgh in 2022.
