The Pittsburgh Steelers have been actively involved in trade discussions throughout the offseason, particularly following the trade of Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in March for a sixth- and seventh-round draft pick.
Recently, rumors have circulated about the Steelers’ interest in acquiring San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, though no deal has materialized.
On Monday, a new potential target surfaced: Denver Broncos veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick.
According to Broncos insider Mike Klis, Patrick has become a prominent name in trade discussions as the Broncos prepare for the NFL’s roster cutdown deadline. Klis reported that the Broncos are exploring trade options for Patrick, who has garnered significant interest from multiple teams, including the Steelers.
Patrick has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, missing the entirety of 2022 and 2023 due to an ACL tear and a torn Achilles, respectively. However, before these setbacks, Patrick showed promise, recording 143 receptions for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns over four seasons with the Broncos.
The Steelers have also reportedly engaged in trade talks with the Houston Texans concerning wide receiver John Metchie III. As the team prepares for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on September 8, time is of the essence to finalize any potential trades.
With George Pickens as their primary receiver, the Steelers are looking to add experience to a relatively unproven receiving corps.
