The Pittsburgh Steelers are making headlines as they pursue Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
NFL insider Dianna Russini from The Athletic reported that the Steelers are “interested in trading for” Adams, adding that they have already made contact with the Raiders’ front office. Russini stated, “Pittsburgh is making an aggressive offer,” although the specifics of the offer remain unclear.
This suggests the team is serious about acquiring the superstar wide receiver, but whether this means a larger trade package or a lucrative financial incentive is yet to be determined.
The Steelers’ interest in Adams comes after they failed to land Brandon Aiyuk, who re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year. Russini pointed out that the New York Jets remain the Steelers’ top competition, as Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been pushing for a reunion with Adams. The Jets have been in communication with the Raiders, but concerns about Rodgers’ future in New York could complicate the potential deal.
Other teams like the New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs are also monitoring the situation. The Saints have an advantage due to Adams’ close relationship with quarterback Derek Carr, though financial constraints make them a longshot. Meanwhile, the Bills and Chiefs are considering a short-term rental option if the Raiders agree to cover part of Adams’ contract.
For Pittsburgh, securing Adams would be a huge boost. Behind current top receiver George Pickens, the team has struggled with inconsistency at the wide receiver position. The addition of Adams would provide the offense with a reliable, game-changing target, helping to free up Pickens and add depth to the receiving corps.
