The Pittsburgh Steelers are making adjustments to their roster following the injury of wide receiver Tarik Black.

On August 13, the team announced that Black, who joined on July 31 and played in the preseason opener, was waived due to a hamstring injury sustained during practice.

Black, who had prior stints with the Colts, Jets, and Ravens, had minimal regular-season experience with the Jets, recording one reception for 10 yards.

In response to Black’s departure, the Steelers are exploring potential replacements at cornerback. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that the team conducted workouts with free agents Zyon Gilbert and Kiondre Thomas on August 13.

Gilbert, a 25-year-old who played three games with the New York Giants in 2022, has also spent time on the practice squads of the Giants and Packers.

Thomas, 26, entered the NFL with the Browns in 2021 and has played in five games, primarily on special teams, with the Chargers and Packers.

Additionally, the Steelers are reportedly set to sign wide receiver and kick returner T.J. Luther, formerly of the Jets and Patriots, to fill the roster spot left by veteran Markus Golden’s retirement.

The team also announced that cornerback Kalon Barnes has cleared waivers and will move to the Reserve/Injured list, potentially leading to an injury settlement or a one-year stint on the list.
