Chris Sutton, the Sky Sports pundit and former footballer, has shared his insights on Nottingham Forest’s prospects in the Premier League ahead of their upcoming match against Bournemouth.
Sutton, who supported Forest as a child, expressed hope that the club will eventually find its footing in the top flight after struggling to avoid relegation in recent seasons.
Since returning to the Premier League, Nottingham Forest has faced two tough seasons, finishing 16th in the 2022/23 campaign and 17th last season, the latter marred by a four-point deduction due to financial rule breaches. Despite these challenges, Sutton believes that Forest is on the verge of “cracking” the Premier League, potentially starting with the new season.
In his interview with the BBC, Sutton acknowledged Bournemouth’s recent signing of Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto as a significant move, particularly after losing Dominic Solanke.
Sutton remarked on the unusually quiet summer for Nottingham Forest in terms of player transfers, which he hopes signals a less dramatic season ahead for the club.
Reflecting on Bournemouth’s 3-2 victory over Forest last December, Sutton predicted a more subdued match this time around, favoring Forest to secure a narrow 2-1 win at the City Ground.
