Barcelona has set its sights on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as a key target for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Under the guidance of new coach Hansi Flick, the club aims to bolster both the defensive midfield and left-wing positions, with Diaz emerging as a top priority.

At 27, Diaz has captured Barcelona’s interest due to his technical skills, work ethic, and defensive capabilities. Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona is leveraging the player’s father’s desire to see his son at the Catalan club to facilitate the move.
Additionally, the departure of Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool has left Diaz unsettled, potentially easing his transition to Barcelona.
However, financial constraints pose a significant hurdle for Barcelona. To afford Diaz, the club may need to offload players, with Brazilian winger Raphinha identified as the most likely candidate.
Despite a strong season, Raphinha’s position overlaps with emerging talent Lamine Yamal, making him expendable. Raphinha has already declined a move to Saudi Arabia but has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
Liverpool’s demands for Diaz are substantial, given their initial investment of £37.5 million and the player’s contract, which runs until 2027.
Initial discussions reportedly quoted Barcelona a price between €120 million and €140 million for Diaz.
As a contingency plan, Barcelona is considering alternatives like RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, who has a €60 million release clause active until mid-July. Other potential targets include Nico Williams of Athletic Club, whose release clause matches Olmo’s.
Williams is also sought after by Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle.
The outcome of these negotiations will significantly shape both clubs’ strategies heading into the new season, with Barcelona particularly focused on strengthening its squad to compete at the highest level.
