Keegan Bradley has been selected as the captain for the United States team in the 2025 Ryder Cup, set to take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York from September 26-28.

Bradley, 38, who has twice experienced defeat at the hands of Europe as a player, expressed his deep honor and excitement about leading the US team.

Bradley’s selection as the 31st US Ryder Cup captain was announced by PGA of America president John Lindert. This announcement came amid reports that 15-time major winner Tiger Woods had declined the captaincy role.

Bradley thanked the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust and shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming competition, highlighting the unique significance of the Ryder Cup and the historic nature of the Bethpage Black course.

Bradley first competed in the Ryder Cup in 2012, achieving a 3-1-0 record, but ultimately saw his team lose in the dramatic “Miracle at Medinah” where Europe staged a stunning comeback. He faced another defeat in 2014 at Gleneagles as Europe comfortably retained the trophy.

Other candidates for the captaincy included Stewart Cink and Fred Couples, both of whom served as vice-captains during the last Ryder Cup in Rome. However, Bradley, the 2011 PGA Championship winner, was ultimately chosen for the role.

Lindert praised Bradley’s past Ryder Cup experience, his strong relationships within the sport, and his unwavering passion for the event, expressing confidence in Bradley’s leadership for the 2025 team.

The US team has typically appointed their captains 18 months in advance, but the decision for this edition was delayed due to extended discussions with Woods. At the US PGA Championship, Woods cited his extensive commitments to the PGA Tour as a reason for not being able to fully dedicate himself to the captaincy.

Meanwhile, Europe has already confirmed that Luke Donald will lead their team for a second term following their victory in Rome. The 2025 Ryder Cup promises to be a memorable event, with both teams gearing up for another historic showdown.
