Golf legend Tiger Woods, aged 48, has hinted at a potential move to the PGA Champions Tour following a disappointing performance at the recent U.S. Open.
Woods, who boasts 15 major titles, failed to make the cut at the tournament, highlighting the challenges he currently faces in competing at the highest level.
Reflecting on his performance, Woods expressed frustration, saying, “I can’t win the tournament from where I’m at, so it certainly is frustrating. I thought I played well enough to be up there in contention. It just didn’t work out.”
Since his severe car accident in February 2021, Woods has made only ten competitive starts, struggling to regain his pre-accident form. Despite these setbacks, a new opportunity may be on the horizon for Woods as he approaches eligibility for the Senior Tour in two years.
Golf star Padraig Harrington has speculated that Woods might pursue a Grand Slam of US Open titles on the Senior Tour, a feat that would make him the most decorated USGA Champion in history.

Woods already holds nine USGA titles: three U.S. Junior Amateurs, three U.S. Amateurs, and three U.S. Open championships.
Achieving a Grand Slam would require Woods to win the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Open, and U.S. Senior Open, a milestone no player has reached.
Harrington is confident in Woods’ ambitions, stating:
“He’d love to win that Grand Slam and get some of the other senior majors on his CV.”
Geoff Ogilvy, another golf veteran, believes that the Champions Tour could significantly benefit from Woods’ participation. “Taking a cart changes everything for him,” Ogilvy remarked, emphasizing the increased interest from fans and sponsors that Woods would generate. Ogilvy speculates that the Champions Tour could even surpass the PGA Tour in viewership when Woods joins.
Tour President Miller Brady has also envisioned Woods’ debut on the Senior Tour.
“In an ideal situation, Tiger turns 50, and the Mitsubishi Electric in January 2026 is his first start,” Brady said.
The anticipation of Woods playing alongside other legends like Fred Couples could create memorable moments and boost the tour’s popularity.
