Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe remained uncertain about his future with the Crimson Tide following their 19-13 loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Speaking after the game at Raymond James Stadium, the redshirt junior emphasized his focus on the present rather than upcoming decisions.
“Right now, I’m just going to try to soak up this moment today,” Milroe told reporters. “Not really try to focus on any future endeavors.”
Milroe struggled in the game, with Alabama falling short despite entering as a two-score favorite. The quarterback’s early difficulties significantly impacted the Tide’s performance. His first four drives ended disastrously—one turnover on downs after a sack, two fumbles, and an interception—all of which positioned Michigan inside Alabama’s red zone.
Despite the rough start, Milroe completed 16 of 32 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown. He also demonstrated his rushing ability, highlighted by a 41-yard run. Reflecting on his role as Alabama’s quarterback, Milroe expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
“It means a lot,” he said. “I put everything on the line. Hardships along the way, lot of doubt, lot of things along the process, but one thing’s for certain: I just remain faithful. I met a lot of great people along the way. It’s truly an honor to wear the script A each and every Saturday, win or loss. I don’t take it lightly at all.”
Milroe faces a looming decision with NFL Draft deadlines approaching on Jan. 6 (soft deadline) and Jan. 15 (hard deadline). Alabama concluded its 2024 season with a 9-4 record, marking the first time since 2007 the Tide failed to secure 10 or more wins.
Their 2025 campaign begins against Florida State on Aug. 30.
