Bryce Underwood, a highly sought-after five-star quarterback, has committed to play college football at Michigan, thanks to an unprecedented Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal worth $12 million and the influence of NFL legend Tom Brady.

Underwood, a 17-year-old prospect, previously committed to LSU but flipped his decision following Michigan’s enticing offer.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Brady personally reached out to Underwood via FaceTime earlier this month and has since maintained communication with him. The seven-time Super Bowl champion, who played at Michigan before his illustrious NFL career, promised to mentor Underwood throughout his time with the Wolverines.

This opportunity to learn from one of football’s greatest players reportedly played a significant role in Underwood’s decision.

In addition to Brady’s mentorship, Underwood is set to earn $12 million through Michigan’s Champions Circle collective, supported in part by entrepreneur Dave Portnoy. LSU reportedly could not match this lucrative offer. Despite earlier indications that Underwood might prioritize long-term NFL aspirations over immediate financial incentives, the combined appeal of Brady’s guidance and the historic NIL deal ultimately swayed him.

Underwood had been committed to LSU since January but publicly downplayed Michigan’s NIL offers, even teasing Wolverines fans on social media.

Now, with Michigan offering both financial incentives and NFL preparation, Underwood is poised to embark on a promising collegiate career with the Wolverines.
