Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly preparing a swap deal to secure the services of Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

The London club plans to offer defender Joe Rodon in exchange for the Argentine playmaker. Spurs are hopeful that the proposed player exchange will persuade newly-promoted Southampton to part with their prized midfielder.

Carlos Alcaraz, who joined Southampton from Racing Club in January 2023, has made a notable impact with eight goals in 47 appearances. His stint at Juventus on loan during the latter half of the last season saw him contribute one assist in 12 matches.

The Saints value Alcaraz at approximately £30 million, making a player swap an attractive proposition for Tottenham, especially with Rodon valued at around £10 million.

Joe Rodon, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Rennes and Leeds, is set to be offloaded by Tottenham this summer. The Welsh center-back’s potential inclusion in the deal could make the acquisition of Alcaraz more feasible for Spurs.

Tottenham’s interest in Alcaraz is part of a broader strategy to strengthen their squad under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

As both clubs navigate the summer transfer market, a potential swap deal reflect their ambition to rebuild squad that could compete at higher levels in the upcoming season.
