Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is set to return to the boxing ring on July 20, but his opponent will no longer be Darren Till. Instead, Chavez Jr.

will face former UFC fighter Uriah Hall in a six-round cruiserweight bout, according to Most Valuable Promotions. This fight will be broadcast on DAZN pay-per-view.

Chavez Jr., who boasts a professional record of 53 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw, was initially scheduled to fight Till on a card that also featured Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson. However, the Paul-Tyson bout was postponed to November 15, leading Till to express his frustration over the extended training camp and subsequent delay.

In response, Paul chose to fight BKFC star Mike Perry on July 20 in Tampa, Florida, while the reasons behind Till’s withdrawal from fighting Chavez Jr. remain unclear.

Chavez Jr., a former WBC middleweight champion, last fought in December 2021, securing a unanimous decision win over David Zegarra. Before that, he lost a split decision to another ex-UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.

Uriah Hall, who left the UFC in July 2022, enters this match with a professional boxing record of 1-0. Hall’s debut in the boxing ring was a success as he defeated former NFL player Le’Veon Bell by unanimous decision on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva event in October 2022.

This unexpected matchup adds another layer of excitement to the July 20 event, promising a thrilling encounter between Chavez Jr. and Hall, both of whom have backgrounds in combat sports and a shared desire to prove their prowess in the boxing ring.
