Vincent Kompany, the new head coach of Bayern Munich, expressed his eagerness to begin his tenure with the team, despite the ongoing EURO 2024 competition.
Kompany, in an interview with FC Bayern TV, shared his impatience for the season to start, stating:
“I’d like the season to start tomorrow. I’d like training to start tomorrow. I’ll be on the edge of my seat until then. I’m honoured by the job, honoured by this opportunity. I’m extremely driven and motivated.”
Kompany is set to instill a new mentality within the squad, focusing on goal-scoring and hard work. He emphasized:
“I don’t know if it’s a philosophy. It’s an idea, it’s a goal. I don’t see the game in any other way than scoring goals. That’s the key. I think it fits with what Bayern want to express as well, it fits with what big teams need to be. I hope we can bring that next season.”
Kompany also highlighted the importance of communication within the team and with the fans, aiming to inspire both individual excellence and collective effort.
Kompany’s approach is grounded in realism and hard work.
“I would like this team to communicate things like: can you be the best individuals but also the best team? Can you be the most talented players but also the hardest working. I’m not someone who wants to overpromise – hard work, just hard work, and make sure everybody does that,” he said.
Kompany’s appointment has been met with some skepticism, including comments from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who noted Kompany’s lack of experience but acknowledged his alignment with the right philosophy for Bayern Munich. His tenure will be closely watched as he endeavors to lead Bayern Munich to new heights with his vision and dedication.
