Determining the Golden State Warriors’ rotation for the upcoming season is a challenge, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Steve Kerr’s lineup.
With several options at both the shooting guard and small forward positions, the picture remains unclear.
After losing Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors’ acquisition of Buddy Hield has emerged as a likely replacement. Known for his three-point shooting, Hield is a strong contender to fill Thompson’s spot in the starting five.
However, Kerr’s decision will depend on various factors, including the defensive strengths of De’Anthony Melton, another recent addition, or the potential of second-year player Brandin Podziemski.
Even if Hield doesn’t start, his role may be more substantial than expected. Anthony Slater from The Athletic revealed that some within the Warriors organization believe Hield could see around 25 minutes of playtime per game.
“Considering how the Warriors want to play in the wake of Thompson’s departure, that specific skill is what has some within the team predicting Hield to be earning around 25 minutes a night,” Slater wrote.
Although his defensive weaknesses were highlighted during Philadelphia’s playoff loss last season, Hield’s shooting ability might secure him a significant role in Golden State. However, with other players like Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, and Gary Payton II in the mix, Hield’s minutes could fluctuate throughout the season.
