Willy Gnonto acknowledges the role of Daniel Farke in his Leeds career resurgence.

Following his promising debut season in the Premier League with Leeds, Gnonto initially faced challenges securing his spot this season.

Competition from players like Dan James and Crysencio Summerville, coupled with lingering effects from past setbacks, hindered his progress.

Moments of wavering confidence, notably highlighted by a tough FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle in January, underscored his struggles.

However, Gnonto’s fortunes took a turn for the better when he clinched a vital victory against Bristol City a week later. This win served as a turning point, propelling him to rediscover his form.

Since then, he has showcased remarkable improvement, tallying six goals in nine league appearances, signaling a resurgence in his performance.

Reflecting on his resurgence, Gnonto credited manager Daniel Farke’s coaching methods during a recent episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast.

He emphasized Farke’s balanced approach of offering constructive criticism while also acknowledging achievements, attributing a portion of his regained confidence to this coaching style.

As a result, the 20-year-old appears rejuvenated and poised to continue his upward trajectory in the league.

Gnonto on how Daniel Farke’s advice in training helped him.

“He is quite fair because there have been many moments this season where I haven’t been at the top, and he was there telling me, not that I needed him to because I expect a lot of myself.

“But he was there telling me in training when he thinks I can do better. But when you do good things he is also there telling you and I think that’s fair, because it has to go both ways.”

Amid challenging times, Farke has consistently expressed his unwavering faith in Gnonto this season, and it’s gratifying to witness this belief yielding results in recent weeks.

Farke views Gnonto as a pivotal player and is committed to ensuring the club swiftly secures him to a new contract.

Although reports in January suggested a deal was imminent, there has been little progress since.

However, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, terms are nearly finalized, indicating a probable new contract for Gnonto.
