Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic appears to be making significant progress in his recovery from a recent ankle injury.
A video shared on social media by NBA Serbia revealed Jovic practicing without a walking boot, an encouraging sign for both the player and the team. The 20-year-old forward, who was initially expected to miss significant time, seems to be recovering faster than anticipated.
Although Jovic was slated to join Nikola Jokic in the Serbian national team for the Olympics, he did not travel to Paris due to his injury.
Originally reported as a fractured ankle, the Miami Heat later clarified it was a severe sprain. The promising young player now has the entire summer to recover fully, aiming to be ready for the team’s training camp in September.
Jovic, who averaged 7.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in his second NBA season, is considered a cornerstone for the Heat alongside fellow forward Jaime Jaquez.
Jaquez recently made headlines with his impressive performance in the summer league, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against the Boston Celtics. His contributions, both on and off the court, have been highly praised by the Heat’s summer league coach Dan Bisaccio.
With both Jovic and Jaquez poised to play pivotal roles, the Miami Heat’s future looks bright as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season.
