The Miami Heat have officially announced a long-term contract extension for their star center, Bam Adebayo.
While the specific terms were not disclosed by the team, several reports indicate that the agreement is a three-year extension worth $166 million, set to commence with the 2026-27 NBA season.
Adebayo celebrated the news by posting a highlight reel on social media with the caption, “HERE TO STAY.” This extension ensures that Adebayo will remain a central figure for the Heat, reinforcing their core lineup for the foreseeable future.
Currently, Adebayo is set to earn $34.8 million for the 2024-25 season and $37.1 million for 2025-26. The 26-year-old center is coming off an impressive season where he averaged 19.3 points, a career-high 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game over 71 games.
His performance earned him his third All-Star selection and his first-ever placement on the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team, following four previous second-team selections.
Since being drafted 14th overall in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, Adebayo has been a cornerstone for the Heat. Over his seven seasons with the team, he has averaged 15.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in 489 appearances, including 385 starts.
Adebayo’s commitment to the Heat reflects his significant role in the team’s ongoing strategy and their aspirations for future success in the league.
