The NBA offseason never truly rests, providing fans with an endless stream of news and speculation. This season has been particularly transformative for the Golden State Warriors.

The departure of Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks marked the end of an era. The Splash Brothers, known for their unparalleled shooting prowess, are no longer together, drawing a parallel to Anakin Skywalker’s fall in “Star Wars,” with Curry as the steadfast Obi-Wan.

The Warriors have been active, restructuring their roster with notable moves. Freed from the financial commitments to Thompson and Chris Paul, the front office has sought to build a competitive team around Curry.

Despite adding players like Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson, doubts linger about whether these changes are sufficient to elevate the team significantly.

Curry, facing the departure of his long-time teammate, has hinted at the possibility of leaving the Warriors if the team doesn’t improve.

In a recent statement, Curry made it clear that he wouldn’t remain with the Warriors just to endure a rebuilding phase. This candid remark puts pressure on the Golden State management to ensure the team remains competitive.

The front office has expressed its willingness to do whatever it takes to keep Curry, offering him substantial influence over team decisions and the potential for a lucrative contract extension. Despite this, Curry’s openness to leaving underscores the uncertainty surrounding the team’s future.

The Warriors narrowly made it to the Play-In Tournament last season, and with Draymond Green’s performance declining and coach Steve Kerr’s reputation under scrutiny, the team faces significant challenges. While young talents like Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga show promise, the competitive Western Conference demands more substantial improvements.

With Curry contracted until the end of the 2025-26 season, he holds significant leverage. His recent comments suggest that if the Warriors don’t show substantial progress, he might consider his options. The absence of Thompson makes the Warriors feel unfamiliar, and without significant advancements, the possibility of Curry’s departure looms large.
